Star volunteer for Talk English in Manchester, Falahat Bokhari, joined Volunteer Mentor for Longsight and Levenshulme, Sam Orton, at local community radio station ALLfm. Falahat answered questions about the project, her role as a volunteer and the benefits her learners gain from attending classes and going on trips together.
“We go on trips to the local community centre, health centre, art galleries, museums”, she said, “I really enjoy learning from our learners and at the same time teaching them. Coming from a non-English speaking background, I know how important it is to be able to learn the language.”
As well as being interviewed, Falahat and Sam chose some of the music played on the show and made sure that ALLfm’s multicultural audience would be happy with their eclectic mix of tracks from around the world!
