We are delighted that the Talk English volunteers from Rochdale have won the Group of Volunteers Award 2017 for their commitment and contribution as a volunteer to the Borough of Rochdale.  Safina Arif, Talk English Rochdale Coordinator said: ” We decided to nominate our volunteers as a collective group for the Council Volunteer Service to praise their efforts and outstanding dedication to the Talk English project. We felt that the volunteers deserved to be recognised and wanted to say thank you by nominating them for this award. By inviting three of our volunteers to the awards evening, we were able to make them feel more involved and proud”.

Safina has also shared the volunteers’ experience of the event which was held in Rochdale on Thursday 1st June 2017 during Volunteers’ Week:

“When our name was called out as the winners of the ‘Group Volunteer Award 2017’ I was ecstatic. It is a true honour to be part of a superb team and project and I thoroughly enjoy my role as a lead tutor, making new friends and being a part of every learner’s achievements.”  – Jacqui Farasowskyie

“I just felt a sense of achievement and pride especially when they read out the numbers of people that we have actually helped. It’s just nice to be a part of it. “ – Samreena Parveen

Three cheers for the volunteers in Rochdale- a well-deserved award!
