Ladies from the local community came together through fun, friendship and flair to learn about the art of henna (mehndi) painting while practising their spoken English with one another.

These sessions enabled Talk English learners to unleash their creativity and produce their own mehndi designs, learning how to prepare the mehndi in order to draw out the best colour (from the various ingredients such as cloves and tea) and  make cones for accurate application of the mehndi on hands and templates.

The learners were able to use these skills amongst their own family and friends.  One lady was really pleased that she was able to apply mehndi on her daughter as part of the dressing up for a party she was attending, while another lady mentioned that she could teach her daughters the skills she learned from these sessions.
