This week we visited Blackburn with Darwen in Lancashire and met learners and volunteers  on the Talk English project.

At Bank Top Community Learning Centre, volunteer teacher, Rani, was teaching a group of learners from Poland, Iran, Pakistan and India.  The learners were talking about what they had done since the previous week, so there were conversations about Nowruz (Iranian new Year), children’s birthday parties and unfortunately working too hard!

As it was the last session before the holiday, the learners made Easter baskets, complete with eggs and feathers!

Later on, we popped into the ESOL Health Cafe at Wesley Hall where learners practise speaking English and do yoga.  One lady from Sudan told us how much she valued the opportunity to speak English with other people and keep fit at the same time.
