On Thursday 5 July 2018 Talk English learners, volunteers and staff from across the North West got together to enjoy a wonderful day out at Manchester Cathedral.

Over 350 people came along to the event to celebrate Talk English, including learners from Blackburn & Darwen, Bolton, Lancashire, Manchester, Oldham, Rochdale, Tameside and Salford.

A range of  organisations, including One Manchester, Home Start, Biffa and BHA,  provided information about different types of services available to the learners.

In addition to finding out useful information, Manchester Art Gallery, The National Football Museum, Heart & Parcel, Manchester Museum, and Manchester Libraries provided opportunities for learners to take part in activities about football, history, art and cooking.

Alongside these organisations, over 30 volunteers and staff from all over the North West generously gave their time to run a variety of activities based around the theme ‘My Place’, which included craft activities, trails and games.

At the end of the morning, everyone enjoyed a picnic in the grounds of the Cathedral.

A massive thank you to all the staff at the cathedral who helped to make sure the event ran smoothly and to all the volunteers, learners and  organisations who helped to make the event so successful.
